As children grow into young adults, we guide them toward independence and purpose. Our vocational training programs teach practical skills such as soap making, candle making, gardening, tailoring, jewellry making, crafts, or hospitality. Our young adults can gain confidence, independence and contribute meaningfully to their communities.
Together, these services help build a future where children and young adults with disabilities are not just cared for, but truly included and empowered.

Vocational Training Centre at More Africa

More Africa’s Vocational Training Centre offers young adults with disabilities the opportunity to develop practical skills in a structured, supportive environment. The program is designed for our kids that outgrow the school and are not able to join the regular workforce but who benefit greatly from meaningful daily activities, skill-building, and social inclusion. The goal of the program is to develop and learn in a safe, respectful environment, where each person is supported according to their abilities.
The program is not focused on productivity or competition, but on personal growth, confidence-building and creating independence .

Training areas include

  • Soap making
From mixing to molding and packaging, our students create handmade soaps, with local spices and perfumes that are used in our Blooming Zanzibar Guesthouse and sold locally and in hotels
  • Candle making
Our students learn the steps of candle production, including pouring, shaping, and decorating, while strengthening fine motor skills.
  • Tailoring
Basic sewing tasks help develop coordination and patience. Students create simple fabric items under guided supervision which will be sold in our Blooming Boutique.
  • Gardening
Working in the garden allows students to grow vegetables, herbs, and flowers. The produce is used in the kitchen or sold, and the activity encourages responsibility and connection to nature.
  • Hospitality
Through More Africa’s newest juicebar on the mainroad, students gain experience in customer service, preparing drinks, cleaning, and working with money. Building confidence in real-world interactions.

All activities are structured, goal-oriented, and adapted to individual learning levels. In addition to practical skills, students gain social experience, teamwork habits, and the satisfaction of contributing to their community in meaningful ways.
