The primary group consists of children who are not allowed in Zanzibar to go to a government school due to their disabilities. This group has, on the one hand, children who progress from the nursery to the primary. These children are very teachable and may in the future move on to the “advanced” group. On the other hand, this group contains children who, because of their developmental delays, have reached their limit in terms of learning. For these children, the primary is the best they can do. Repetition is the key for these children.
